The Year of the Horse – Chinese New Year

Diana Castle, Year of the Horse, Chinese New YearToday, January 31st, is the start of the Chinese Year. This year, 2014, is the Year of the Horse.

If you were born in any of these years, you were born in the year of the Horse. 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014. The next year of the Horse will be 2026.

However, because the Chinese calendar is a lunar calendar, it doesn’t follow the western calendar which starts on January 1st. So, if you were born, say, in 1966, you’d have to have been born between January 21, 1966 and February 4, 1967 to have been born in the year of the Horse.

This website can give you more information on determining which year of the Chinese calendar you were born in.

I was born in the Year of the Monkey. The website says that people born in the year of the monkey are fun loving and cheerful and the center of attention. Hmmm, that doesn’t really describe me, but that’s okay.

People born in the Year of the Horse are active, energetic and have lots of sex-appeal!

If you want to learn 20 facts about the Chinese New Year, this article over at the Huffington Post is pretty informative.

This article advises those born in the Year of the Horse to lie low.

And here’s more info for those who were born in the Year of the Horse.

Just think, if you haven’t quite achieved all those goals you set on January 1st, or even started working on them, you now have a second chance!
