I came across it again at the end of December while rummaging through my files. Just in time for the start of the new year. It’s a document you can get for free from The Writer’s Store.
Apparently, Jerry Seinfeld would get himself one of those 12 month, year at a glance calendars and every day that he wrote new material, he x’ed out that date and, soon, a chain of X’s would appear.
The idea is to not let the chain of X’s break. To write every single day for an entire year. Or do whatever it is you want to do every day for an entire year.
I’m using it for my writing and I have to say it’s pretty satisfying to use my red marker to X out a day. Of course, I only started it on January 1st, so I only have 6 days X’ed out, but if you’re looking for something to keep you on track for whatever your goal is for 2014, you can find the pdf version for free here.
